Yay you! You have landed your hands on the latest iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max! You must’ve realised the what-used-to-be a notch on top of the screen of your phone, is now a pill-like cutout; what Apple calls the "Dynamic Island”.

We have summarised a few features that we find helpful with the Dynamic Island, and have broken it down into two sections.
The Dynamic Island works with many system apps, such as:
- Payment confirmation when using Apple Pay

- AirPods connection and battery status
- iPhone charging percentage status and battery life
- Low battery alerts
- AirDrop file transfers
- Switching between Silent and Ring mode
- Shortcut actions
- AirPlay connections
- Accessories connections
- Find My Alerts
Other than the alerts, the Dynamic Island can display ongoing background activities such as:
- Incoming calls and duration of calls

- Active timers
- Media playback for music and podcasts

- Voice Memo Recordings
- Screen Recording
- Personal Hotspot connections
An honourable mention, Apollo - it has brought in a new feature that lets users add a digital animal on top of the Dynamic Island which will accompany its owners while they read through threads on the app. Its a cute element to have the your pet move around, sit in one spot, and also do some basic actions.
